A Salute To Veterans

Warren County Bicentennial Postal Cancellation

In conjunction with the Special Meeting of the Warren County Board of Supervisors on June 13, 2013, the Bicentennial Citizens Advisory Committee has announced that a Commemorative Postal Cancellation by the Lake George Post Office will take place. In recognition of Warren County’s 200th Anniversary, Postmaster Jodi Finnegan will oversee this US Postal Service event as a community service to help commemorate this special event. Chapman Museum to feature New Exhibit -- Parchments, Papers & Prints: 200 Years of History from the Warren County Archives

Glens Falls: To celebrate Warren County’s Bicentennial the Chapman Museum is partnering with the Warren County Records Center to feature an exhibit of rare manuscripts, maps and legal documents, many of which date back to the early days of the county. The Records Center’s archives are operated under the direction of the Warren County Clerk’s Office. Parchments, Papers & Prints: 200 Years of History from the Warren County Archives will be on display at the museum, located at 348 Glen Street, Glens Falls, NY from April 11 to September 1. Warren County Bicentennial Plant Tags

The Bicentennial Citizens Advisory Committee of the County of Warren is pleased to announce that plant tags for the official Warren County Bicentennial flower – the Rudbeckia hirta, or Black-Eyed Susan – will be found on plants during the 2013 retail season. This official designation was fittingly made by resolution of the Warren County Board of Supervisors during Earth Week 2012. Read more...

Warren County Bicentennial Proclamation Day

The Warren County Bicentennial proudly celebrates “Proclamation Day” on Friday March 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. At the commencement of the Board of Supervisors meeting there will be a presentation and reading of proclamations from local municipalities and county chairmen as well as from New York State officials including Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Betty Little and Assemblyman Dan Stec. Bicentennial Bells Will Ring in Warren County

At 2:00 pm on March 12, 2013 churches from all over Warren County will be ringing their church bells in remembrance of the incorporation of Warren County, New York on that date in 1813. The ringing of the bells is a significant undertaking since it is recorded in history that local churches rang the bells to alert the community of many events and emergencies that took place before mass communication became the norm. Town of Warrensburg Celebrates 200 Years

The Warren County Board of Supervisors, on behalf of the residents of Warren County, proudly commemorated the 200th Anniversary of the Town of Warrensburg at the February 15th Board of Supervisors Meeting. A proclamation was presented to Warrensburg Town Supervisor and Chairman of the Board Kevin Geraghty, by Budget Officer Frank Thomas of Stony Creek. In addition to the proclamation, a framed print of the 1891 Burleigh Map of Warrensburg was also presented. Town officials, the Warrensburg Historical Society and members of the Warren County Bicentennial Committee were on hand for this presentation. Read more...

2013 Bicentennial Celebration Begins

During the Organizational Meeting of the Warren County Board of Supervisors, incoming Chairman of the Board, Kevin Geraghty, formally announced the commencement of the Warren County Bicentennial Celebration. Mr. Geraghty noted it was a significant and historic time for the County of Warren as well as the Town of Warrensburg, which was also celebrating 200 years. Read more...

Bicentennial Black-Eyed Susan

The Bicentennial Citizens Advisory Committee of the County of Warren is pleased to announce the designation of the Black-Eyed Susan, a/k/a Rudbeckia Hirta, as the official flower of the 2013 Bicentennial year.
